#915 Detroit Tigers (Mize) +110 over Boston Red Sox (Suarez) 6:15 PM CT
Detroit went 25-17 vs. left-handed starters last season and after winning a see-saw game on Thursday the Tigers are 2-0 vs. southpaws this season. Detroit is only 2-8 in road games this season, but Boston has struggled overall this season at 7-11. Ranger Suarez had great success for several years in Philadelphia, but he has often felt like an overachiever, lacking big strikeout counts and getting away with a low home run rate most of his career. So far in the move to the AL Suarez has a 1.3 HR/9, well above his rate over the past five seasons and his ERA stands at 5.02 three starts into his time with the Red Sox. It has taken some time for former #1 pick Casey Mize to become a useful MLB pitcher, but he had a breakthrough season in 2025 and is at a similar pace three starts into 2026. Mize has not had a big difference in his home and road splits in his career, and he has a good early season track record. Mize also made a strong start at Fenway Park last September. The bullpen for the Tigers has come together for a nice recent run of results and while Boston has a capable lineup, it has been an inconsistent group. Detroit is in a more demanding scheduling turnaround to start this series, but this is an appealing price on a Tigers lineup that should be successful vs. left-handers this season.
