#907 Texas Rangers (Leiter) -105 over Houston Astros (Arrighetti) 7:10 PM CT
Texas is just a game below .500 after back-to-back wins and a 4-1 mark the past five games before an off-day Thursday. Houston is still at home but the Astros played yesterday afternoon and have lost five of the past six games to fall to 17-28 overall this season in a big fall so far this season from the recent history of consistent success from the Astros. Jack Leiter has a 1-3 record, but his 10.3 K/9 suggests a breakout season is underway for the 2021 #2 pick in the MLB draft. Leiter lacks great road splits but his worst start on the road this season was an understandable tough outing at Dodger Stadium. Leiter allowed three or fewer earned runs in three different starts vs. the Astros last season, including two starts in Houston. Spencer Arrighetti has a 1.88 ERA this season in just over 28 innings of work but his xERA is 5.38. He has been extraordinarily fortunate in a small sample as his BB/9 is 5.3 and his strand rate is 12 percent higher than last season. Houston has posted terrible bullpen results this season with a 1.60 WHIP and an 5.86 ERA while the Astros are batting .204 with 2.8 runs per nine in the past 10 games.
