#951 Arizona Diamondbacks (Rodriguez) -135 over Colorado Rockies (Sugano) 2:10 PM CT

Arizona received a complete game from Merril Kelly in last night’s 9-1 win in Denver. The Diamondbacks are 4-2 in the past six games with at least four runs scored in four of the past five games as the offense is trending upward. The Rockies showed some competitive life early this season with a 6-6 start, but Colorado is 11-22 since, including losing five of the past six games with the lineup unable to top two runs in four of the past five games. Arizona’s bullpen owns a 2.61 ERA in the past five games, and the unit received the day off completely on Friday. Eduardo Rodriguez has battled injuries and inconsistency since joining the Diamondbacks in 2024, but he is 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA in eight starts so far in 2026. Rodriguez has a low home run rate to offset a lower than expected strikeout rate in the early season sample. This should be a favorable matchup as Colorado is just 2-7 this season vs. left-handed starters and over the past five games the Rockies are batting .209 with less than 1.0 run per nine in those matchups. Tomoyuki Sugano has a 5.60 FIP next to his solid 4.07 ERA and he has not been able to generate strikeouts at the MLB level. He has been a significant home run risk with a career 1.9 HR/9 now in his second MLB season and like many Rockies pitchers before him, he has much worse splits so far in his home innings. Arizona should again have the edge in this NL West pairing following last night’s win in the series opener.
