#922 Washington Nationals (Griffin) -130 over Kansas City Royals (Wacha) 5:45 PM CT
Over the past five games the Royals have scored fewer than one run per nine vs. left-handed pitching and on the season Kansas City is just 3-16 vs. left-handed starters. Kansas City is also just 12-23 on the road this season. Foster Griffin has revived his career following three seasons in Japan. The southpaw has a 3.46 ERA in 14 starts for the Nationals including a 2.05 ERA over his last four starts. Michael Wacha has a FIP that is nearly a half-run higher than his ERA while his strikeout rate has been near a career low in the past two seasons. Wacha enjoyed a good start to the season, but his ERA is 7.13 in his last three outings while 0-3 in decisions, posting only nine strikeouts in nearly 18 innings of work. Washington is one of the top offensive teams in baseball and the Nationals are batting .286 with 7.7 runs per nine vs. right-handers in the past five games. Neither bullpen has great season numbers, but Washington has a steady 3.93 bullpen ERA in the past 10 games with Washington pitching allowing three or fewer runs seven times in the past 10 games. Washington opened this series with a 7-3 run last night and a similar result seems possible on Tuesday.
