#918 Baltimore Orioles (Morton) -105 over St. Louis Cardinals (Fedde) 2:05 PM CT

Getting a proven veteran to stabilize the rotation seemed to be the missing piece for the Orioles and Charlie Morton seemed to be a worthy acquisition. Not much has gone right for Baltimore so far in the 2025 season including Morton posting a 7.68 ERA and a 0-7 record this season in 41 innings with the Orioles despite being one of the better pitchers in baseball the last decade. Morton has turned things around in recent weeks pitching in long relief and he could return to form back in a starting role on Monday. In his last two appearances he has logged more than seven innings with just four hits allowed and delivered 10 strikeouts. St. Louis swept Arizona in three one-run games over the weekend, but the Cardinals are only 11-15 in road games this season. Erick Fedde had a 4.39 FIP with just a 5.4 K/9 and for his MLB career he has been a below average starter despite gaining some interest after a strong season in the KBO in 2023. Fedde has a 3.9 BB/9 and he allowed four runs in five innings in his last start. The Cardinals are 19-8 at home this season while a very different team on the road and the Orioles have shown a bit of life since Friday’s lopsided loss in Boston, scoring 12 runs and winning two of the past three games. There is talent in the bullpen and lineup for the Orioles as this is a team that still has the potential to climb back to respectability and Morton should be given the nod for more potential for a high-end start based on his track record in recent seasons and the recent uptick in his strikeout numbers after a slow start to 2025.
