The Guardians went 20-7 in September for a historic run while averaging 4.6 runs per game and consistently finding ways to manufacture runs. Detroit caved to late season pressure to go 7-17 in September, barely holding on to a playoff spot. Cleveland has won 8 of 13 meetings this season with Detroit with a 46-34 edge in scoring. Over his last five starts Gavin Williams has allowed just six runs in 31 innings while going 4-0 in decisions, allowing just seven hits and two runs vs. Detroit. With Skubal’s credentials the first five price appears a bit boosted and Cleveland finding a way to put a run across or at least keeping the early innings level seems very possible in Tuesday’s early game in the AL wild card round.
