#337 Georgia Tech +20.5 over Miami, FL 7:00 PM CT

4-0 Miami is getting some attention as a serious threat in the ACC race and even consideration as a viable CFP contender. We’ll find out about the Hurricanes the next few weeks as following this week’s game with Georgia Tech, they play at North Carolina and then host Clemson. The 4-0 start includes only one win of substance, winning 48-33 hosting Texas A&M. An Impressive result, but they had a kickoff return touchdown in the 3rd quarter when it was a one-point game and Texas A&M put up 25 first downs and 433 yards. It was still a one-score game in the final minutes until Miami connected on a 64-yard play. Texas A&M had three turnovers and outrushed Miami in that game which likely deserved a closer final score. Georgia Tech lost by 21 hosting Miami in November last season in a game of back-up quarterbacks, but that was still a 7-point game until the final eight minutes, Georgia Tech was +10 in yards but -4 in turnovers. The Yellow Jackets have faced a tough schedule this season, losing the opener by five to a 5-0 Louisville team. They played right with Ole Miss most of the way until things fell apart in the 4th quarter, trailing by seven with eight minutes to go despite losing by 25. The Yellow Jackets beat Wake Forest by 14 on the road as well. Last week Georgia Tech had a stunning loss to Bowling Green, allowing 38 straight points from being up 14-0. Three turnovers set up a few short fields and one went for a devastating pick 6. The program had a defensive staff shake up this week and now needs to win four of the final seven to make a bowl game. That means a significant upset along the way is needed. Miami has some potential but is a program that is frequently overpriced, going 14-23 ATS as a favorite of 20 or more since 2004 and with much bigger games the next two weeks, covering by more than three touchdowns could be a challenge this week.
