#969 Houston Astros (France) -105 over Texas Rangers (Gray) 6:05 PM CT

Houston has disappointed with a 2-6 start to the season, but the Astros have only been outscored 33-32 on the season. Houston has scored 21 runs over the past four games and the lineup has hit .271 on the season. The bullpen has turned in a few rough outings, but J.P. France is a capable starting option Saturday. France won 11 games for Houston last season with a 3.83 ERA, and he narrowly missed a quality start in his first start of 2024. France had a 3.11 ERA on the road last season and had some success against Texas even he did pitch poorly in Game 7 of the ALCS, entering in relief in tough circumstances. The 5-2 Rangers got by with Jon Gray making 29 starts last season even with his marginal numbers. Gray had a 6.43 ERA in the playoffs, and he allowed five runs and seven hits while getting just 11 outs in his 2024 debut. Gray had a 4.78 ERA at home last season with 14 home runs allowed in 79 innings and the Texas bullpen has a 4.91 ERA in the past five games. The defending World Series champions are still going to be a formidable group this season but Gray looks like the pitcher to fade for the Rangers and Houston is still likely going to be an elite contender this season, now catching a discounted price compared to playing at -135 yesterday.
