#951 Cincinnati Reds (Williamson) +105 over Washington Nationals (Gore) 12:05 PM CT
The Reds are 22-10 since June 1 with big scoring numbers, averaging nearly 5.7 runs per game. Cincinnati will look to complete a four-game sweep in Washington after a blowout on Wednesday, getting a strong starting effort from Graham Ashcraft. Washington is 10-21 vs. left-handed starters this season and Brandon Williamson has pitched better than his 5.56 ERA suggests. In seven of his nine starts he has allowed three or fewer earned runs and the bullpen for the Reds has a solid 3.97 ERA for the season. In contrast Washington has some of the worst relief pitching in baseball with a 5.05 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP from its bullpen. In the past 10 games the Nationals have a 6.52 bullpen ERA. Cincinnati is 17-11 vs. left-handed starters and while there is a lot to like about MacKenzie Gore’s potential, he has elevated walk and home run rates this season to go along with good strikeout counts. Gore has allowed five or more runs in three of his last five starts and has worse numbers at home this season. Cincinnati isn’t getting the valuation deserved as this team has looked like an elite NL contender in recent weeks and the recent splits suggest a clear edge for the Reds in a lefty-lefty pairing.
