#958 New York Yankees (Stroman) EVEN over Seattle Mariners (Woo) 6:05 PM CT

New York hasn’t been playing at its best in recent weeks, but the pitching staff is entirely to blame as New York has scored at least five runs in each of the past eight games. After a six-game slide, New York won three in a row, including back-to-back wins in Seattle the past two days in a key battle of AL Wild Card contenders. Bryan Woo is having a terrific season, but he has an extreme disparity in his home and road splits, posting a dominant 1.80 ERA in Seattle but more average results on the road.  New York has received at least five innings from five straight starters as the bullpen should start to rebound with the workload more manageable so far this week. The Seattle bullpen has struggled with a 4.61 ERA the past five games with short starting efforts the past two games to start this series, following the team delivering three consecutive shutouts hosting Pittsburgh last weekend. The Mariners have been held to three or fewer runs in six of the past eight games for marginal recent production and Seattle won’t fare well if this becomes another high-scoring game at Yankee Stadium, where New York is still 28-17 this season. Marcus Stroman has made only five starts this season, but he was solid in back-to-back starts since returning from the IL in late June, allowing just four runs over 10 innings. Stroman isn’t a lights out option on the mound, but the veteran is a consistent producer to provide five-plus steady innings to allow the offense to take over the game. New York is 8-2 in the past 10 meetings with Seattle, and this will be one of the lowest prices on New York in that run.
