Nelly’s won again yesterday – 7-2 in our last nine and 20-8 since July 13 as an amazing 2025 MLB season continues!

#970 Athletics (Springs) EVEN over LA Angels (Soriano) 3:05 PM CT

Jose Soriano has pitched well in two starts vs. the Athletics this season but he will face a lineup with much more momentum this time around. Five times since June 1 Soriano allowed five or more runs as he has been erratic in recent weeks despite a decent season line and good road results. The Athletics are 14-7 since July 24 including outscoring the Angels 17-5 in the first two games of this series as these teams are now just four games apart at the bottom of the AL West, with a season run differential gap of only 12 runs. Jeffrey Springs lost his last start, but he has been on an excellent run since mid-June with a 3.36 ERA. The Angels are just 10-12 vs. left-handed starters as well as batting only .211 vs. left-handers in the past 10 games. After getting swept by the Angels in the first two series between these teams, the Athletics have an opportunity to complete a sweep Sunday, and they will face a depleted bullpen following Soriano as the Angels have gone four straight games without getting more than four innings from their starters. In the past 10 games the Athletics have a 0.96 WHIP and a 2.09 bullpen ERA in contrast to a 4.43 bullpen ERA for the Angels. While Los Angeles is still above the Athletics in the standings, the recent form suggests the opposite case. This is an attractive price on a reliable starter for the Athletics and the poor season record in Sacramento can be overlooked with a 60% mark in the past 10 home games.
