#972 Cincinnati Reds (Lodolo) -105 over Toronto Blue Jays (Berrios) 5:40 PM CT

The Toronto bullpen continues to be a problem, as the AL East leaders allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning last night to erase a comeback bid that the Jays put forth in the top of the ninth. In the past 10 games Toronto has a 5.24 bullpen ERA with a 1.66 WHIP and Blue Jays pitching has allowed at least four runs in nine consecutive games. Cincinnati is only four games behind the Mets for the final NL wild card position as this team has a lot to play for in the final month, posting back-to-back wins to try to climb out from a late August slide. The Reds are 38-31 at home and Nick Lodolo has elite potential on the mound. Since the All-Star Break, Lodolo has a 2.60 ERA and he has three scoreless outings in his last six starts. While the Jays have a good record vs. left-handers on the season, Toronto has hit just .206 with 3.9 runs per nine vs. left-handers in the past 10 games. While it hasn’t been true in his 2025 numbers, for most of his time with the Blue Jays Jose Berrios has pitched far better at home while being a mediocre road pitcher. Berrios has faltered since the All-Star Break with a 4.58 ERA, and he has allowed four or more runs in three of his last five road starts. Always a home run risk, Berrios isn’t well-suited for this ballpark, and he has a 4.35 career ERA in four starts in Cincinnati.
