#827 Pacific -2.5 over Portland 9:00 PM CT
Following an 0-2 start in WCC play, Pacific has won back-to-back games to reach 2-2. Dave Smart’s team is already 11-6 in his second season after winning only nine games last season as the Tigers are vastly improved. Outside shooting has been a big area of improvement while the rebounding numbers have been a strength as well. Both WCC wins for Pacific were at home, but Pacific did win four games away from home in non-conference play and both WCC road losses were competitive games. Portland has endured a tough path to start 0-4 in WCC play and while this is team’s most favorable league opportunity so far, it isn’t clear the Pilots can take advantage. Portland has been dreadful in two key areas on offense, turnovers and 3-point shooting. The Pilots play at a fast pace but have a very poor offensive efficiency ranking and this is a team that last won a game on December 14. Timo George has missed the past two games for a significant absence that impacts the size edge the Pilots can have in many WCC pairings. Pacific lost a pair of close games with Portland last season including losing in overtime in last January’s road meeting and this year it appears that the Tigers have passed up the Pilots in the WCC picture. Pacific is a 60% ATS team so far this season and the Tigers should be a threat for another win Thursday night.
