#963 Toronto Blue Jays (Lauer) +110 over Tampa Bay Rays (Martinez) 5:40 PM CT

The Blue Jays have been a great disappointment this season at 16-18 coming off last year’s run to Game 7 of the World Series. Toronto is 6-3 in the past nine games however even with a loss on Sunday, and the offense has posted at least five runs in five of the past 10 games. In the past 10 games the Blue Jays are hitting .275 with 6.0 runs per nine vs. right-handed pitching. Nick Martinez has a 1.70 ERA in six starts in his first season with the Rays, but his FIP is nearly two runs higher and he has a 5.8 K/9 and has never been a dominant MLB starter, even if his career has found a second life since his return form pitching in Japan. The Rays are 6-1 this season vs. left-handed starters and this team will attract attention to start the new series with an 11-4 home record and a recent rise to the second best record in the AL. Tampa Bay is only hitting .200 in the past 10 games vs. left-handers however and in the past five games that average drops to .118 with only 2.5 runs per nine. Eric Lauer has a 6.00 ERA this season in 27 innings, but he had a good season for the Blue Jays in 2025 and has capable career results. One bad start skews his season line in 2026 so far as he has allowed three or fewer runs in five of his six appearances, with four outings this season surpassing five innings of work. Tampa Bay is 21-12 this season while only +7 in run differential as the hot recent run isn’t sustainable and the Blue Jays have had strong bullpen results to match the Rays in recent games. Thank you for playing with Nelly’s and Best of Luck. Don’t miss tonight’s NL Central Game of the Month with Nelly’s coming off a 2-0 Sunday. We have also hit 70% in the NBA postseason so far and look to win a Game 1 total tonight.
