#903/904 UNDER 9.5 St. Louis Cardinals (Liberatore) at Atlanta Braves (Perez) 6:15 PM CT

The Cardinals and Braves both hold good season records vs. left-handers with St. Louis 12-8 vs. left-handed starters while Atlanta is 22-14. Neither lineup has been at its best lately however and a game with a lower scoring trajectory looks likely to start this series on Tuesday. Atlanta has lost six of the past seven and 12 of the last 16 to fall from the top perch of the National League, now only leading the NL East by 3.5 games. In the past 10 games the Braves have hit .222 with just 3.3 runs per nine vs. southpaws, while St. Louis has been a notch worse batting .213 with 3.2 runs per nine. While the Cardinals have had an erratic bullpen, Atlanta still owns top tier relief pitching, including a 1.96 ERA in the past 10 games. The ‘under’ is 5-1 in the past six St. Louis games with the Cardinals unable to top four runs in any of the six games on the last home stand. The ‘under’ also went 5-1 in Atlanta’s west coast road trip last week. Neither Martin Perez nor Matthew Liberatore is an elite option on the mound, but Liberatore had a strong month of May before a few recent setback outings. Martin Perez has turned in six straight starts without allowing more than three runs as he continues to provide solid innings for Atlanta. It will be warm in Atlanta tonight but there isn’t much wind and the low-scoring recent trends should hold in the series opener.
