#937 Cleveland Guardians (Espino) +105 over Chicago White Sox (Newcomb) 3:00 PM CT
Down 0-2 and facing elimination, Cleveland is worth a look at a slightly plus price in the early game Wednesday. Chicago has had just six hits in each game as while the attention has been on Cleveland’s offensive failures, the White Sox haven’t been overly productive, they just managed to get three hits with runners in scoring position in Game 2, including scoring three two-out runs for timely clutch results. Losing behind both Gavin Williams and Parker Messick is a big blow for the Guardians but the bullpen depth is strong, and opener Daniel Espino has electric stuff with a 14.7 K/9 in a small sample. Joey Cantillo had great results this season and he can follow Espino with success while Tanner Bibee and Foster Griffin are options to get outs before turning to the rested bullpen. Sean Newcomb will open for Chicago before likely turning to Erick Fedde or Davis Martin, and Chicago may hold off on using Hagen Smith or other top relievers for stressful innings playing with a 2-0 series lead. This was a very even series in the regular season with a one-run scoring difference and after two toss-up games won by the White Sox, Cleveland is more than capable of keeping the series alive and will use all its best matchup options facing elimination.
