Nevada emphatically won in Reno last season and overall the Wolfpack have had a clear historical edge in this pairing with a 20-7 S/U run since 1993. San Jose State is quietly 2-1 in MWC play but the wins have come against the bottom of the conference, defeating Hawaii and UTEP.  The defense has allowed just over 21 points per game this season for respectable results, but the opposition has featured three of the four lowest scoring teams in the conference. This is Nevada’s first home game since a September overtime loss to Air Force and if the Wolfpack want to reach six wins for a bowl breakthrough out of a rough stretch for the program, this is a must-have game. Even with the current 2-4 overall record Nevada +15 in net scoring in six games and Nevada has already played two of the top three teams in the MWC standings. Both teams already played in El Paso this season and Nevada had a 376-211 production edge while San Jose State was actually outgained and the defense allowed 462 yards. The Spartans may be thinking about the embarrassing loss last season in Reno, but the gap is likely too severe for there to be a dramatically different result this season.
