These schools have met every year since Appalachian State jumped to the FBS level and the Mountaineers have won all 12 games. Georgia State did cover in the last trip to Boone two years ago, however. From a 4-1 start Georgia State has lost three in a row, and this won’t be an easy game to break the streak in. Appalachian State managed only three points last week but that was a flat spot after the upset over James Madison and the head-to-head results vs. last year’s SBC champion were dramatically different at Georgia State lost 49-22. Georgia State has lost 10 of its past 11 conference games and this can be a tough place to play with one of the best home field edges in the Sun Belt. Dell McGee has struggled in SBC play with a 2-16 S/U record and the strong start this season in September’s non-conference path appears to have been a mirage. Malachi Singleton has been very effective as one of the top quarterbacks in the conference and this is a favorable spot for the offense to get back on track.
