#956 Miami Marlins (Alcantara) +110 over Milwaukee Brewers (Priester) 6:05 PM CT

Miami is 9-1 in the past 10 games as the Marlins are proving to be a formidable threat despite the slow start to the season. With yesterday’s results, the Marlins just passed up the Braves in the NL East standings and while Milwaukee has been playing well, a two-game slide sits over the Brewers heading into this road series. Milwaukee has a losing road record for the season and after playing three games the past two days without great starting performances, the bullpen is in a challenging set-up for Friday to start this series. Quinn Priester threw well in June but three of his past four starts have been at home. He didn’t pitch well in his last road start, and he has also enjoyed several favorable matchups in recent weeks. The season turned around for Priester when he was used after an opener in several games in May and his results haven’t been as strong in a conventional starting role. Priester has a FIP well above his ERA while having worse road splits this season. Sandy Alcantara was starting to look like the former Cy Young winner in a nice run of June starts before getting hit hard in Arizona in his last start. His ERA is more than two runs higher than his more respectable FIP and Alcantara has dramatically superior home splits this season. The Miami bullpen has been dominant on the recent run of success for the Marlins, posting a 2.13 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP In the past 10 games. Miami has won six of the last eight against the Brewers and Milwaukee may be catching the Marlins at a less-than-ideal time, coming off a high-profile playoff rematch with the Mets, with that series crammed into two days after a rainout on Tuesday.
