#975 Cleveland Guardians (McKenzie) +130 over Arizona Diamondbacks (Gallen) 8:40 PM CT

Cleveland’s offense doesn’t get a great deal of respect, but the Guardians are batting .292 with 5.4 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handed pitching. Zac Gallen isn’t an ordinary right-hander, but a patient Guardians lineup is less likely to chase around the edges where Gallen typically sends most of his pitches. Gallen has a tremendous season line so far in 2023 as one of the top Cy Young contenders and his home numbers are amazing, but he has struggled a bit in recent weeks with a 4.67 ERA over his past five starts. He has allowed eight runs and 19 hits over his past two starts as he has fallen off his early season pace despite a strong favorite valuation tonight. Arizona has a 4.66 bullpen ERA in the past 10 games and Gallen has not pitched past six innings in any of his last five starts. Cleveland in contrast has excellent recent relief pitching results with a 2.51 ERA in the past 10 games, though the workload in the last series was significant for Cleveland relievers. Triston McKenzie missed the first two months of the season, but he was one of the AL’s better pitchers in 2022 and he has a 2.78 FIP and a 13.5 K/9 so far in 2023 as his potential is great. Cleveland has scored at least four runs in seven of the past 10 games while Arizona enters this series on a bit of a slide after scoring only 10 runs in the past three games combined. The Diamondbacks look like overachievers on top of the NL West while only +27 in scoring and McKenzie is capable of pitching right with Gallen tonight.
