#967/968 OVER 8 Houston Astros (Wesneski) at San Francisco Giants (Tidwell) 9:45 PM ET

Houston lost Saturday and Sunday in San Diego with the lineup managing only two runs in each game. The Astros have hit .298 with 5.4 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handed pitching and this should be a favorable bounce-back opportunity for the current AL West leaders. San Francisco has a 1.82 WHIP with a 5.73 ERA from the bullpen in the past five games and the Giants had to play extra innings yesterday following a run of marginal starting efforts in the last lap of the rotation outside of Logan Webb’s effort Sunday. Blade Tidwell has just a 6.9 K/9 in 17 MLB innings this season and he has made only one starting effort, while getting by with low walk and home run rates in the small sample size. San Francisco has scored at least four runs in five of the team’s past eight games and the Giants have a lineup that should be more productive than it has been this season with several proven hitters. Hayden Wesneski has a 6.2 K/9 this season in two starts and he hasn’t been much more than an average pitcher in his career. Wesneski has allowed 11 hits in just over 11 innings of work despite being 2-0 for the Astros. Houston does have a bullpen with strong potential right now but conditions in San Francisco tonight will favor offense with a substantial wind pushing out to center field. San Francisco home games average more than 8.4 runs per game this season while in 13 of Houston’s last 18 games the Astros have scored at least four runs.
