#917 Cleveland Guardians (Williams) -110 over Chicago White Sox (Kay) 6:40 PM CT

The Guardians own a tremendous 17-9 record vs. left-handed starters and the first series of the season between Cleveland and Chicago provides an opportunity for Cleveland to pull further ahead in the AL Central race. Cleveland pitching has allowed two or fewer runs six times in the past eight games and Gavin Williams has nine wins in 15 starts this season, posting a strong overall season line including a 10.1 K/9. Williams just had his worst start of the season Wednesday in Milwaukee but tonight he faces a Chicago offense that has cooled off. The White Sox have hit just .183 with 3.7 runs per nine vs. right-handed pitching in the past 10 games. Anthony Kay is 6-2 for Chicago but he has a 5.32 FIP and a strikeout-to-walk ratio below 2:1. Kay has pitched well at home but in three June starts he has allowed 17 hits and 12 runs. The Guardians have the stronger bullpen for the season and while neither team has great recent relief numbers, Cleveland received 14 innings from its starters the past two days to leave the unit in good shape for the start of this series. Chicago in contrast has used two openers in the past four games and has had one starting effort of more than four innings in the past seven games. The White Sox are 24-12 at home to keep this price in check but Williams has much more upside on the mound, and the Cleveland lineup has consistently found ways to win vs. left-handers this season.
