Cam Schlittler gave New York a great start and New York is 7-3 in the past 10 games with the pitching staff posting back-to-back shutouts while allowing just 2.9 runs per game. The Phillies are just 2-5 out of the break and the lineup has been held to one or zero runs in four of those games. Philadelphia is just 19-21 vs. left-handed starters this season while scoring just 3.9 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. southpaws. Ryan Weathers is only 3-7 in decisions, but he has a 10.1 K/9 and he has turned in several strong outings despite some inconsistency. In 11 of his 19 starts he has allowed two or fewer earned runs and his season splits are stronger away from Yankee Stadium. Brian Keller is expected to make his MLB debut to start for Philadelphia today. Keller is a journeyman as a 39th round pick back in 2016, originally by the Yankees. His AAA numbers look strong, but this will be a tough opening draw. The Philadelphia bullpen also has a 4.88 ERA in the past 10 games compared to elite numbers for New York in the late innings, with the Yankees consistently featuring some of the best bullpen results in baseball this season. New York’s light offensive production since the break has come through a tough lineup of opposing pitchers after facing the Dodgers and Pirates and then All-Star left-hander Jesus Luzardo yesterday, the lineup should have a better opportunity Saturday. While these teams have similar records, the Yankees are 106 runs stronger in season run differential.
