#959/960 OVER 8 Colorado Rockies (Hughes) at San Francisco Giants (Tidwell) 3:05 PM CT
Colorado rookie Gabriel Hughes had a bit of early success in July, but the book seems to be out on him at this point. He has allowed 15 runs in his last three starts. Like Hughes, Blade Tidwell also has an ERA that looks better than his current form Tidwell pitched well in low leverage relief roles in April, he has been less effective returning to the Giants as a starter in August. San Francisco is not a high scoring ballpark, but winds will be somewhat substantial pushing to center field today as the scoring could see a boost after these NL West squads split 5-2 and 7-1 results the past two days with plenty of missed opportunities. The Giants have a 4.62 bullpen ERA with a 1.44 WHIP in the past 10 games while Colorado has a 1.46 WHIP with a 3.89 ERA in the past 10 games. San Francisco games average 8.7 runs per game this season and home games at Oracle are averaging 8.3 runs per game. With two inexperienced starters on the mound, this lower total looks attainable, even if neither offense has been consistently productive.
