Quinn Priester has turned out to be a valuable addition for the Brewers and he has delivered an excellent run since early May, posting seven consecutive outings of at least five innings with three or fewer runs, posting a 2.35 ERA. Miles Mikolas had a great month of starts from mid-April to mid-May, but he has lost his form, allowing 25 hits and 13 runs over his last three starts. Mikolas has an atypical approach, but the Brewers have a great deal of experience against him and hit him hard in two of three outings last season. The Cardinals are just 15-20 on the road while Milwaukee is 22-15 at home and the Brewers have won three of the past four in this series despite Saturday’s 8-5 defeat. Milwaukee has a 12-8 edge in at-bats with runners in scoring position yesterday despite the loss and St. Louis used four relievers including lengthy outings from a few key relievers. In the past 10 games the Cardinals have scored just 2.9 runs per nine vs. right-handers while Milwaukee’s bullpen has been in great recent form including an 0.86 WHIP with a 1.45 ERA in the past five games.
