#951/952 UNDER 9 Milwaukee Brewers (Harrison) at Pittsburgh Pirates (Dotel) 11:35 AM CT

There was no letdown for the Brewers after clinching the division, winning 5-4 in Pittsburgh yesterday. With a day game today, Milwaukee’s scoring pace could stall as the Brewers wrap up stage one of a three-city road trip while looking to hold the #1 position in the National League. While Milwaukee made headlines scoring 20 runs last Friday, Milwaukee has been held to five or fewer runs eight times in September and five of the team’s past eight games have completed with nine or fewer runs including both games in Pittsburgh this week, as did all four games with the Pirates in Milwaukee in August. The Pirates are scoring just 3.2 runs per nine vs. left-handed pitching in the past 10 games and while Kyle Harrison has been inconsistent since his August return from the IL, he has not allowed a run in 11 innings vs. Pittsburgh on the season. Rookie Wilber Dotel is 1-5 with a 4.84 ERA but his FIP is only 2.98, and he has a 9.2 K/9. Dotel has only started once, and he won’t be in line for a long outing but the Pirates have allowed three or fewer runs five times in the past nine games for capable pitching down the stretch. Pittsburgh won’t make the playoffs but at 75-77 the Pirates have a chance to finish above .500 for the first time since 2018 for a positive step for the franchise. Despite the ability to post big numbers occasionally, the ‘under’ is 79-68-5 in Brewers games this season.
