Free Pick Saturday: #218 Wyoming +2.5 over San Jose State 6:30 PM CT

San Jose State has won four of the past five in this series but lost with only nine points scored in the last visit to Laramie. Wyoming is 1-0 in MWC play but couldn’t keep pace last week with former MWC power BYU, though the Cowboys had a very competitive first half performance. San Jose State has played only three games but is 2-1 and the loss came by just eight points at Auburn for a strong showing. Last week’s dominant win over Western Michigan was a mild surprise with a nearly 2-to-1 yardage edge as the defense has been imposing so far this season. Wyoming is on a 7-1 ATS run as a home underdog with five S/U wins and cool rainy conditions Saturday night could play to the strength of the Cowboys however. Historically San Jose State has been a strong road favorite with a 21-8 ATS mark since 1998 but that is a very small sample for a rare role for the program, typically only priced as a road favorite against some of the very worst teams in the nation. The Spartans are just 2-3 ATS in that role including a S/U loss since 2016. Wyoming meanwhile is 7-1 ATS in the past eight opportunities as a home underdog while 13-5 ATS as a home underdog with 10 S/U wins going back to 2016 as this is a venue with a significant home field edge, particularly as the fall conditions move in.
