#676 Memphis +3 over Baylor 3:30 PM CT

Memphis is only 3-4 this season but most of the defeats have been forgivable and all three wins were top 200 results as it has been a difficult early season schedule. That doesn’t change with a gauntlet of major conference draws in December before the AAC season starts. Baylor visits the FedEx Forum Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 record and a few credible wins. This is Baylor’s very first true road game of the season, however. As usual, Scott Drew’s squad has posted efficient offensive results, but this has not been one of Drew’s better defensive teams so far, including allowing scoring in the 80s in five of seven games. Baylor has an effective field goal rate allowed of 54 percent for a concerning start. The Bears have virtually no depth, and the roster has been significantly reconstructed from lats season’s 20-15 squad that was a .500 team in Big XII play. Last season Baylor played five significant non-conference games away from home and went 2-3 with both wins by slim margins in neutral settings as the Bears did not produce a non-conference road win last season and went just 3-7 in Big XII road games with one of those wins in OT and none of those wins vs. the top half of the conference. Memphis bounced out early in the NCAA Tournament last season but it was a 29-6 season. This is an experienced teams and the roster has terrific depth. Memphis has good size on the roster and looks like a much stronger defensive team in comparing the early season numbers. Aaron Bradshaw didn’t play in the last game, but it doesn’t appear to be an injury situation as the 7’1” junior should be in the lineup today.
