#778 St. Thomas -9.5 over Sacramento State 7:00 PM CT

Sacramento State has only two Division I wins this season and this is a tricky road game with long travel stepping out of Big Sky play for an atypical January non-conference game. The Hornets have the worst turnover rate in the entire nation and six of the team’s 10 losses have come by double-digit margins while posting only one win away from home this season. St. Thomas may look risky laying a significant favorite price given the slow pace of play for the Tommies, but this team has reached 70 or more points in six straight games. The shooting efficiency has been excellent including hitting over 36 percent from 3-point range with a high volume of 3-point shots. Sacramento State also is a team that gets a high percentage of its scoring beyond the arc, but the Hornets shoot below 31 percent from 3-point range while allowing over 36 percent as St. Thomas is likely to see a huge advantage in outside shooting success in this game. After a rare win at home 67-64 Wednesday night, this will be an awkward trip to the Twin Cities ahead of next week’s home game vs. typical Big Sky leader Weber State, and St. Thomas has the tools to pull away in this game with low turnover counts and strong free throw shooting.
