Eastern Michigan has won five of the past eight games in this series with a 6-2 ATS run, though these teams didn’t play last season to break a long run of annual meetings. Eastern Michigan is just 3-7 on the season but the Eagles won last week at home but are 0-5 S/U on the road this season. Ball State is 4-5 but the final two games of the season are against MAC contenders on the road. This is the home finale in Muncie and Ball State is 4-0 S/U and ATS at home this season while on 12-1 ATS run at home since October 2023. Keeping bowl hopes alive hinges on a win for the Cardinals in this game and while the wins over Akron and Kent State could have been dismissed at the time, those teams have proven to be improved this season. A 42-0 disaster result following up Ball State’s upset over Ohio skews some of the numbers for Ball State as that was simply a no-show performance for a team working its way through a transition season under Mike Uremovich. Eastern Michigan will have a rivalry game next week and the Eagles are coming off a win but in road games the Eagles have allowed big numbers, surrendering 31 or more points in four of five games. Eastern Michigan last won a road game in September 2024 vs. a Kent State team that wound up having a winless season, going 0-8 S/U and 2-6 ATS since. Eastern Michigan has one of the worst run defenses in the nation allowing 5.7 yards per rush this season compared to more respectable results for Ball State, with the Cardinals allowing 4.2 yards per rush in the past three MAC games.
