#467 Houston Texans +1.5 over Jacksonville Jaguars 12:00 PM CT

Houston’s run of winning the AFC South is in jeopardy with a 0-2 start while the Colts are 2-0. The Texans have lost their games by a combined total of six points, however, playing two quality teams that were playoff teams last season and are both 2-0 this season. Houston had 5.8 yards per play in last week’s loss to Tampa Bay in a game that flipped in the final seconds while the Texans held the Rams to just 14 points and fewer than 300 yards in the opener, posting a significant rushing edge but battling 11 penalties and two turnovers. Jacksonville had a turnover edge last week and faced a backup quarterback most of the game and the Jaguars still didn’t win. Trevor Lawrence continues to be a below average quarterback at the NFL level, so far completing 59 percent of his passes for just 6.2 yards per attempt, while now 23-39 as a starter and in just his third game with a new coaching staff. Houston has gone 6-0 S/U in the past six trips to Jacksonville while going 3-1 S/U in this series in the DeMeco Ryans and C.J. Stroud era. Houston was favored in both wins last season and is 16-6 ATS all-time as an underdog vs. the Jaguars. Jacksonville is also just 17-33 ATS in its last 50 games as a home favorite. Stroud didn’t play well on Monday night, but he has had success in two-plus seasons and the Texans still have decent potential on both sides of the ball this season as the team numbers paint this team as a 1-1 team at worst. Both teams have some injury questions this week, but Houston’s recent track record is much more reliable in this situation with both teams off tough losses last week.
