#962 Chicago White Sox (Peguero) +125 over Detroit Tigers (Paddack) 6:40 PM CT

Acquiring Chris Paddack from the division rival Twins wasn’t much of a trade deadline splash for the Tigers and so far, Paddack has provided average results for Detroit, just like he did for the Twins. Paddack has allowed five runs and nine hits in 10 innings in two starts since the trade and while Paddack had a strong early season run in 2025, he has a 6.89 ERA in his past 10 starts since mid-June. Cleveland is putting a bit of heat on the Tigers in the AL Central race as a division lead that was as great as 14 games in July is now only six games. Detroit is 9-17 since July 9 as the Tigers haven’t been their best despite being one of the AL leaders all season, and that run includes losing three straight road series. Detroit is 5-2 vs. the White Sox this season but they swept an early season series and split a more recent four-game set in Chicago. The White Sox have surpassed last season’s win count already and are 11-10 since the All-Star Break for a rare stretch of above .500 play. The offense has shown some recent life posting five or more runs 13 times in those 21 games since the break. The White Sox have posted 5.3 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handers to post nearly identical offensive splits to the Tigers. The Chicago bullpen has also been in a strong stretch of results with a 0.89 WHIP and a 2.47 ERA in the past 10 games. In contrast Detroit has a 4.46 bullpen ERA in the past 10 games as the late innings continue to be a concern for the postseason future of the Tigers. Elvis Peguero has nearly 140 innings to his name at the MLB level, breaking into the league with the Angels back in 2021. Peguero pitched for the Brewers in six games this season before being waived and picked up by the White Sox. He had good numbers in the minors and was originally a starter early in his minor league career with the Yankees. He may not be much more than an opener on Monday and Chicago should have capable bullpen options available with only Jordan Leasure pitching both Saturday and Sunday over the weekend. Detroit has been the much more complete team to sit with 25 more wins than the White Sox for the season, but Chicago’s recent form has been stronger, and Paddack has been performing well below a replacement level in the past two months.
