#912 Detroit Tigers (Jobe) +105 over Boston Red Sox (Houck) 5:40 PM CT
The Tigers have been blown out in the past two games at home, losing by a combined score of 16-4 to the Rangers. Detroit is 26-15 overall, including 14-5 at home and Monday’s game should provide a good opportunity to rebound after the team’s first home series loss of the season. Boston has won four of the past five games with the only miss in extra-innings, but the Red Sox have been an up-and-down performer this season. Tanner Houck has not picked up a win in eight starts this season and his ERA is 6.10 for a major step back from his strong 2024 campaign. Houck has good numbers at Fenway Park but his road ERA in 24 innings is 8.63. Jackson Jobe is only 22 years old but the 2021 first round pick appears ready to contribute at the MLB level. Jobe has made six starts this season and five of them have been successful, with his only tough outing his first career start in Denver, a fate many young pitchers have suffered at Coors Field. Detroit has one of the best bullpens in MLB with a 1.07 WHIP and a 2.72 ERA for the season even if the bullpen results were marginal over the weekend. In six of the past 10 games Boston has failed to top four runs while Detroit has scored eight or more runs six times in the past 10 games. While these teams had opposite results over the weekend, Detroit remains the more reliable performer, and the upside potential of Jobe outweighs the proven mediocrity of Houck.
