#548 Philadelphia 76ers -2.5 over Minnesota Timberwolves 6:10 PM CT
Minnesota is in the #6 position in the Western Conference standings, currently lined up with the Lakers, which might be a preferable draw than possibly facing Denver. The Wolvers are not at risk to fall out of the top six with #7 Phoenix now 4.5 games back as the regular season schedule dwindles down. The Wolves gave a good effort in Detroit last night in a 113-108 defeat and only nine players were on the court for Minnesota as Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels sat out. Both could again sit out on Friday in this road game before heading home for the next game Sunday. Philadelphia is 7-3 S/U in the past 10 games and while this is a first game back at home after three road games, the 76ers are playing with urgency. Like Minnesota, Philadelphia is holding the #6 position on the Eastern Conference side but the 76ers are in a virtual tie with #7 Toronto while the difference between #5 Atlanta and #10 Miami is only 4.0 games as there is still a lot to sort out in the playoff standings even in the 10 participants have been determined. Philadelphia Is 5-1 S/U in the past six home games and while the ATS results for the 76ers at home this season have been marginal, the roster in good shape right now minus Joel Embiid, who has played in just 36 games this season and will be used cautiously until the playoffs. Minnesota is just 17-20 ATS on the road this season including going 12-19 ATS when favored or an underdog of four or fewer points. Minnesota has faced the #28 ranked strength of schedule this season and while neither of these teams has a winning record vs. quality teams, there is dramatically more at stake for Philadelphia in the final games of the regular season and this is a negative scheduling set-up for the Wolves. Both teams have averaged efficiency numbers in the recent splits and playing a four-quarter game last night vs. a top contender will likely take a toll on the Wolves Friday.
