The Pistons are 5-2 ATS while 7-0 S/U this season as a favorite of seven or more. Atlanta has posted a 13-8 record for a strong start to the season, but the Hawks lost 120-112 hosting the Pistons a few weeks ago in a game that really wasn’t as competitive as that score implies for the Hawks never led and trailed by as many as 19 in that game. Atlanta beat Cleveland in a big home game on Friday and then on Sunday won in double-overtime in Philadelphia to make this game a taxing turnaround without a rest day. Four starters played for at least 44 minutes yesterday for an already shorthanded Hawks team playing without Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis. Detroit won in Miami Saturday to avoid a three-game slide with the Pistons now 16-4 this season with half of those wins coming by at least nine points including five of six home wins. The +5.9 average scoring differential is modest for the Pistons next to the 16-4 record on top of the Eastern Conference standings but this should be a favorable situation for Detroit to be at its best.
