Free Pick | NFL | Sunday | Oct. 16

Nelly’s delivered a top play winner yesterday in college football – check out this Sunday’s NFL 2/3:

Free Pick Sunday: #267 Carolina Panthers +10 over Los Angeles Rams 12:00 PM CT

There isn’t much to like about P.J. Walker’s past results as an NFL quarterback but a one-game bounce for Carolina seems possible after making a coaching change and a quarterback change following another disappointing loss last week. The offensive line issues for the Rams have transformed the defending Super Bowl champions into one of the worst offensive teams in the league, scoring just 16 points per game and last in the NFL in rushing yards per game. Add that Cam Akers is out while Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee are banged up. Aaron Donald is also a question mark on defense for the Rams who sit at just 2-3 after scoring a combined total of 19 points in the past two games. NFL teams in Game 6 or later with a losing record playing as a favorite of 10 or more points are just 30-47-1 ATS since 1981 including 14-31-1 ATS since 2004. Carolina did have 308 yards against an excellent San Francisco defense last week in what was a bit of a misleading outcome with San Francisco adding two fourth quarter touchdowns. The Panthers are likely a team that will get less competitive as the season goes on and trade offers are entertained but a short-term boost this week in a marquee road game seems possible as the gap between two of the league’s worst offensive teams doesn’t look this significant.
