#467/468 OVER 47.5 Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs 3:25 PM CT

The Kansas City defense has played well this season, allowing fewer than 15 points per game for the second best defensive scoring average in the NFL. They did face quality teams in the first two weeks of the season but on a 4-0 run since the Chiefs have defeated teams that are a combined 7-18 and that all rank outside the league’s top 15 in scoring. The Chargers average more than 25 points per game and have averaged 5.6 yards per play while ranked as one of the most productive passing teams in the NFL. Los Angeles has scored at least 24 points in four of five games with the only exception being Monday’s loss to Dallas. The Chargers failed in two red zone trips in that game while struggling to run the ball. Kansas City allows 4.5 yards per rush this season, ranking #24 in the league as Los Angeles should have better balance this week. The Chiefs have seemingly played to their opponents’ levels in recent weeks with modest scoring in narrow wins but last week Kansas City was able to play conservatively on offense with little threat from the Broncos in a game that was 16-0 until the final minutes. The previous week allowing 20 points to Minnesota was a fortunate result as the Vikings had a costly turnover on a productive early drive and reached the red zone at the end of the game without being able to add points. Last week Kansas City produced a touchdown in just one of five red zone trips for a significant number of points left off the scoreboard as this is still an offense with elite potential. This is the matchup both teams will likely bring out everything and the recent series history has been very high scoring with the past five meetings all reaching at least 51 points. Even with that history, this is the lowest total in this series since January 2021, a game Patrick Mahomes didn’t play in.
